August 27, 2008 · Updated 6:24 PM
The Cougars football team finished off an injury-plagued season Friday, Nov. 4 with a 48-0 non-league loss to Sehome High School.
Lakewood finished the season 1-9 under first year coach Dan Teeter.
Senior Shane Holland caught two passes for 30 yards. Junior quarterback Jay Wettlaufer was 5-for-10 passing for 73-yards and one interception.
Senior TJ Regan carried the ball twice for 22-yards and junior Ernest Mitchell had one rush for 21-yards.
Teeter said injuries were probably at an all-time high for the last game of the season.
Junior Marcus Harkins got hurt on the first series of the game defensively and as the game went on it continued to add on top of itself. We had a good chance to talk in the locker room after the game. My biggest point to the underclassmen was that if you dont want to go 1-9 again you have to work for it.
He added that the team he inherited was pretty inexperienced and that 22 seniors graduated from last years squad.
I think it was a combination of inexperience and a new offensive system. We didnt prepare hard enough in the off-season. They all want to get better and I think they all had a good experience this year.
