ARLINGTON The Lady Eagles soccer team lost one and tied in two Wesco North contests Oct. 17-19.
Thursday, Oct. 19, Arlington battled the Lady Bearcats of Monroe to a 1-1 tie in double overtime, and lost 4-0 48 hours earlier to Lake Stevens.
The Lady Eagles came out fired up and appeared ready for action at John C. Larson Stadium in smoky and foggy weather.
The tie gave Arlington a 2-8-5 record in league play and overall. Monroe now stands at 4-6-5 on the season.
Sophomore midfielder Kristen Allen fired off the games first shot about two minutes into the contest, but it was Monroe that got on the scoreboard first.
Monroe took an early 1-0 lead with about five minutes into the game, and Allen found the back of the net shortly thereafter to knot the score at 1-all.
Amanda Wreggelsworth crossed it in off a corner kick and I just found an opening, Allen said of her corner kick goal set-up by her classmate.
Eagle power chants rang out from the small, yet vocal student section.
The two teams entered halftime tied at 1-all, but were unable to score again in regulation or either 5-minute overtime period.
Junior goalkeeper Andrea Parlin made a handful of athletic and acrobatic saves throughout the contest.
One of the defensive gems of the game came in the middle of the second half when junior forward Jordan Taylor deflected a potential goal with her knee.
Unfortunately for Arlington, they may have suffered more than a tie as Parlin left the game on crutches after being nailed in the calf toward the end of the game.
Coach Nathan Davis said he thought his squad played pretty well.
Kristen had a great finish on that corner kick and Sam (Welch) is playing really well for us also.
Arlington returns home Thursday, Oct. 26, to face Cascade in their last home game of the season.
Junior varsity begins at 5 p.m. and varsity is scheduled to kick off at 7.
