The Eagles continued their slide in Wesco North League Wednesday, Oct. 11, with a 6-1 road defeat to the M-P Tomahawks.
Arlingtons lone victory came from junior Colby Boulton at the No. 1 singles position.
Boulton defeated Joe Dyer 6-4. 6-2.
With the loss, the Eagles fell to 1-14 in league play and overall and the Tommies improved to 8-7.
Boulton, who played Dyer earlier in the season at the No. 3 position, said he felt pretty good about his performance.
There were only a couple times that I got down on myself, but I was able to come right back, Boulton said.
Asked what he did differently to prevail over Dyer, the friendly teen said he simply got his shots in.
I got my shots in and wasnt trying to do anything differently. I just let him make the mistakes. I have played him (Dyer) before at the No. 3 spot and lost, but today it was my turn to win.
Head coach Ben Mendro said he is tired of losing to his neighbors to the south, but overall was proud of the performance from the singles players.
All the singles guys played well, but its just frustrating because we are such a young team. Eric McElroy, the guys call him pong because he seems to return nearly every shot hit in his direction. Austen Davis played well at the No. 4 singles position today.
