Lineman dont often get a large share of the credit on winning football teams from people in the press, but they make the difference in ballgames. Senior tackle Chris Vargus for Darrington plays both sides of the ball and has made a huge impact on the Loggers season. After not turning out for the team last year, Vargus decided to play as a senior and the results are evident. Darrington is 7-0, only having been challenged in one game at Concrete. The Loggers get a second shot at Concrete on Oct. 26, which should prove to be the game-of-the-year for both teams.
Having me and Scott (Rebelbrugge) on the line makes us a much better team this year, said Vargus. I think with the guys weve got right now, with our seniors, well do very well in the playoffs.
Vargus recovered a fumble in the Loggers most recent win over Orcas Island as well as blocking for an offense that put up 619 total yards.
