Lakewood Youth Football wins Peewee Superbowl
August 27, 2008 · Updated 7:03 PM
The Lakewood Youth Football Association Peewee Cougars disposed of yet another opponent and concluded their 2007 season undefeated.
Taking on the Burlington Tigers on Nov. 10 in Mount Vernon proved to be a small obstacle for the relentless Cougars. Once again leading the way was Dash Gilbert who finished with 238 rushing yards and five touchdowns. Kyler Rumple tacked on 116 yards on the ground.
Jaden Mills spearheaded the defense, including a key fumble recovery in the third quarter to set up the Cougars fourth touchdown. Zach Johnson made a fine catch in the end-zone following Lakewoods fifth score to tack on the extra point and give the game a final margin of 35-14.
The Cougars ran the table this season, finishing undefeated and unapproached by their local competition.
