Lady Loggers win one, lose one to begin October

The Lady Loggers volleyball split a pair of Northwest league matches to begin the month of October.
Darrington was swept by LaConner 3-0 Thursday, Oct. 5 and was on the other end of the broom Tuesday, Oct. 3, with a 3-0 defeat of Concrete.
Both matches were at home.
On Thursday, Oct. 5, the Lady Loggers fell victim to undefeated LaConner (8-0 in league play and 9-0 overall). Darrington dropped to 5-3, 7-3 with the loss.
Game scores were 25-10, 25-17 and 25-18.
Sophomore Mandy Powell led the team with 24 assists and junior Natasha Green had six kills.
The Lady Loggers began the month by sweeping the Lady Lions of Concrete 3-0 Tuesday, Oct. 3.
Game scores were 25-12, 25-13 and 25-13.
Concrete fell to 0-6 in league play and 0-7 overall while Darrington improved to 5-2, 7-2.
Green recorded 10 kills, senior Jill Frable had eight kills and Powell had 36 assists.
Junior Maggie Wicken had seven kills.
Darrington returns home Thursday, Oct. 12 to face Shoreline Christian at 5:15 p.m. for junior varsity and 7 for varsity.
