Jackson swimmers overpower Tommies

The Jackson swim team was a dominating force, dousing the Tomahawk swimmers 119-51 in a conference clash at the Mill Creek pool.
The Timberwolves won all 11 events at the meet, remaining undefeated through the season. The Tomahawks settle into the standings at 5-2 with their final dual meet of the season Oct. 23 at home against Everett.
Despite the team result though, coach Jaci Legore Hodgins said that several swimmers had strong individual performances in the meet.
Freshman Geina Malavolti improved on her personal best times in three events, qualifying for districts in the 100 breaststroke. In addition, she shed six seconds in the 200 individual medley and nine seconds from her previous best in the 500 freestyle.
Sophomore Amanda Collins, who already qualified for the district meets in the 100 butterfly added the 200 IM to her list of postseason events, while fellow fly specialist Melody Travis swam a speedy backstroke.
“(Jackson) put on a show for us and then some,” Legore Hodgins said after the meet. “It was fun though.”
M-P hosts a district one diving meet two days after they close their league schedule against Everett. The Marysville pool will be site of the Oct. 30 JV championships after which districts start in early November at Kamiak.
