Arlington team wins seven gold, seven silver at state Special Olympics

Arlington residents Cori Wreggelsworth and Austin Worthing each won two gold medals at the state Special Olympics track and field meet, leading their team of 12 at the May 30-31 meet.

Wreggelsworth, 19, and Worthing, 15, both won the 25- and 50-meter assisted walk, earning four of Arlington's seven gold medals from the meet.

Worthing also placed fifth in the softball throw.

Ahna Marr, 10, won the softball throw and placed second in the 100- and 200-meter dashes, contributing two of Arlington's seven silver medals. Brandon Edmonds, 16, won gold in the standing long jump with a mark of 1.25 meters and placed second in the 100, also placing sixth in the 200.

Eleven-year-old Xander Ryder brought home the team's seventh gold medal, winning the 100 and taking silver in the 200. He placed fifth in the softball throw.

Ten-year-old Adam Lefebure was also a double medalist for Arlington, taking bronze in both the 200 and the softball throw, taking fourth in the 100.

The team's youngest competitor, 9-year-old Armando Caceras, placed second in the 50-meter assisted walk and earned a ribbon for his seventh-place finish in the tennis ball throw. Joshua Catiis, 20, placed second in the 800-meter walk and earned two fifth-place ribbons for the 400-meter walk and the softball throw.

Mark Erickson, 45, added the team's seventh silver medal, placing second in the shot put. He earned two more ribbons, placing fourth in the 100 and fifth in the 200.

Mike Henry placed fourth in the softball throw. Jamie Leigh McClure and Charles Steele also competed for Arlington.
