9 local wrestlers place at state

M-P’s White makes it to final before placing 2nd

Nine local high school wrestlers placed in the State Boys and Girls Wrestling Tournament at the Tacoma Dome last weekend.

The top local finisher was Cayden White of Marysville-Pilchuck, who made it to the finals at 170 pounds. He lost his last match 10-2, but before that he won by pins in 1:25, 4:26 and 58 seconds.

Teammate Nick Cantu finished fourth at 132 pounds. He lost his final match 8-2, but before that he won by pin in 2:38, by a 6-1 decision and by fall in 4:31. Three other locals finished fifth at state.

At 106 pounds was Daniel Heiss of Arlington, winning his final match by a 6-5 decision.

At 145 pounds was Isaiah Galindo of M-P. He won his final match 5-4.

And placing fifth at 160 pounds was Kristian Fairbanks of Arlington. He won his final match, pinning his foe in 4:04.

Trey Padgett was the only Marysville Getchell wrestler to place, finishing seventh at 138 pounds. He won his final match by a 12-6 decision.

Placing eighth at 285 pounds was Jeffrey Rouiller of M-P. He lost his final match by injury default.

In girls wrestling, Cassidy O’Hara of Lakewood was fifth at 125 pounds, winning her final match 4-1. Earlier she won by pin in 48 seconds, and won decisions of 7-2 and 4-3 before losing in the semifinals by pin in 2:07.

And Tailer Cochran of Arlington placed eighth at 120 pounds, losing her final match by fall in 1:29. Earlier she won by pins in 3:36 and 5:29 before losing 17-1.

In team results, the M-P boys were 10th with 90 points, Mount Spokane won with 235.5. Arlington was 31st with 36.5 points and MG 38th with 21.5. There were 59 teams.

In the girls team scores, Lakewood was 43rd with 27 points, Arlington 52nd with 22, M-P 122nd with 3. MG didn’t score. There were 144 teams. Union won with 135.

106: Heiss won by pin in 35 seconds; by a 12-11 decision; and a 6-4 decision before being pinned in 3:31 by the eventual champion.

160: Fairbanks won by fall in 43 seconds and in 3:19 before losing 9-5.

106: Casten Tollenaar lost by pin in 5:04.

113: Dorian Tollenaar lost by an 8-3 decision.

132: Caleb Abenroth lost by a major decision 17-1.

152: Sam Rush was pinned in 1:58.

170: Levi Wiseman lost by a 6-1 decision.

182: Cole Hahn lost by pin in 4:44.

Marysville-Pilchuck

145: Galindo won by pin in 1:30 and by 9-2 and 5-4 decisions, before losing 3-1.

160: Ahmad Humoud won 5-4 and by pin in 4:44 before losing by pin in 2:54.

120: Tanner Lauzon lost by pin in 4 minutes.

126: Austin Davis lost a 10-2 decision.

170: Mauro Bejar lost 17-6.

195: Ikaika Naweli won by pin in 23 seconds, but then was pinned in 1:37.

285: Rouillier won by pin in 37 seconds before losing by pin in 3:48.

Marysville Getchell

138: Padgett won 19-1 and by pin in 1:54 before losing 10-3.

182: Edgar Duenas won by pin in 3:36 and by a 12-7 decision before losing by pin in 1:46.

220: Cheron Smith lost a 6-1 decision.

285: Eric Duenes won 6-4 before losing by pin in 1:30.

Lakewood

170: Gavin Wright won by pin in 1:37 before losing by decisions of 7-5 and by injury default.

195: Barrett Meyer lost by pins in 3:42 and 2:12

Girls wrestling

Arlington

105: Vivan Potong won 5-0 and 1-0 before losing by pin in 39 seconds.

135: Zoe Pittson was pinned in 2:36.

140: Kylie Hinds lost by injury default in 1:09.

170: Souzanna Crew lost by pin in 1:54.

190: Malia Wayman lost by pin in 2:22.

235: Alyson Ellingson won by pin in 1:12, then by a 7-6 decision before being pinned in 2:48.

Lakewood

115: Torrie Blackwood won 7-3 before losing by pin in 1:27.

135: Rhyleean Weinberger won by pin in 2:26 before losing by pin in 1:18.

135: Olivia Poulton won by pin in 34 seconds before losing by pin in 1:51.

235: Elizabet Aleo lost by pin in 1:12.

Marysville Getchell

115: Kaitlan Flick lost by pin in 1:25.

Marysville-Pilchuck

125: Chelsey Goeden lost her first match then won by pin in her second before losing her final match.
