MARYSVILLE –The Lake Stevens swim team is double the size of Marysville-Pilchuck and Marysville Getchell combined.

So it’s not surprising the visiting team beat M-P 131-53 and MG 137-44 in a meet Tuesday. M-P beat MG 94-74.

The two local teams did have some standout performances.

Bindi Pedersen of MG won the 100-yard breaststroke with a clocking of 1:10.83, more than four seconds faster than her closest competitor. Lauren Carson of M-P was third in 1:20.59.

Pederson also was second in the 50-yard freestyle with her 25.7 clocking.

In the one-meter diving competition, Carson placed first with a total score of 247.91 points. Lexi Kilbourn of MG was second with 241 points. Carson scored an 8 1/2 on a reverse 1 1/2.

“That’s my highest on that dive,” she said, adding it also may tie her best score ever on any dive.

M-P took the top two spots in the 100-yard butterfly with Katelyn Leary first in 1:08.48 – 7 1/2 seconds faster than her seed time – and Alexis Bennett was second.

Leary also gutted out a third-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 6:29.18, again about 7 1/2 seconds faster than her previous best.

Bennett was second in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:37.23, three seconds faster than her seed time.

Emma Savidge of MG looked like she was going to win the 100-yard backstroke, but Rylee Johansen of Lake Stevens touched just before her at the end.

M-P was second in the 200-yard medley relay with Leary, Carson, Bennett and Jennica Harper swimming. MG was third with the team of Savidge, Pedersen, Isabella Bennett and Adrien Penny.

M-P also was second in the 200-yard freestyle relay. That team consisted of the same four swimmers. MG was third with the same team, except Kilbourn replaced Savidge.
