The Arlington Eagles got off to a slow start, but then powered by Snohomish 26-9 in the third quarter to win going away 65-44 Tuesday night.

Junior guard Anthony Whitis again led the winners with 20 points. Jaren Cary, a senior wing, tallied 19. Junior guard Caden Smith contributed 12, and junior post Dele Aribibola also hit double figures with 10. Sophomore Will Abram and Jose Guttierrez scored two apiece.

With the win, Arlington is now 10-5, while Snohomish dropped to 5-10.

Arlington came back to tie it at halftime 22-22 after a low-scoring second quarter. But the Eagles took off in the third putting the game away as their offense clicked for 26 points, while their defense held the Panthers to only nine.

Meanwhile, in a game at Lakewood, the Cougar boys basketball team improved its record to 11-4 with a 63-48 romp over Meridian.

The home team had a balanced scoring attack while its defense held the visitors to almost a season low.

Senior Jon Cox had six and junior Machai Harris four. Lakewood led most of the game, taking a 18-16 lead after one, increasing it to 35-26 at halftime.
