Local wrestlers qualify to state; two champion in regionals

EVERETT — Arlington, Marysville-Pilchuck and Marysville Getchell had wrestlers qualify for state at the regional tournament at Everett High School Feb. 11.

Arlington placed fourth out of 13 teams scoring 155.5 points with junior Gavin Rork and senior Colton Ferro as regional champions.

Marysville-Pilchuck placed seventh scoring 121, and Marysville Getchell placed 10th with 50.

The 3A state meet will take place at the Tacoma Dome Feb. 17-18.

Local state qualifiers and finals results: 106-pound weight class—Cole Daurie (M-P) second, losing by decision to Marco Medoza (Southridge) 7-5 in overtime; 138—Rork (A) first, dec. Riley Van Scoy (Stanwood) 14-4; 160—McAuslan (A) second, losing dec. to Sione Halo (Kamiakin) 3-1 OT; 170—Keith Pablo (M-P) second, losing dec. to Zayid Al-Ghani (Southridge) 8-4; 195—Ferro (A) first, dec. Luke Eskelsen (Kamiakin) 9-6; and 220—Charlie Diedrich (MG) third, dec. Atsamaz Pliev (Southridge) 8-4.

RIDGEFIELD — Lakewood’s John Seth qualified to state by placing second in the 106-pound weight class at the 2A regional meet at Ridgefield High School Feb. 11. Lakewood placed 11th out of 16 teams scoring 42 points.
