Local teams are playing for state 3A playoff positions Friday and Saturday.

After beating Arlington 19-8 Thursday night, the Marysville-Pilchuck girls softball team was to play for the consolation title Friday. If they beat Meadowdale they will advance to state.

To qualify for that game, Arlington beat Lynnwood 11-8 in an earlier game. In that same round, Marysville Getchell’s season ended with a 7-2 loss to Meadowdale.

In boys baseball, both Arlington and Marysville-Pilchuck are still in the running.

Actually, M-P has already qualified for state and will be playing Saturday for the district title at 1 p.m. in Mount Vernon.

Arlington can win the consolation title and still qualify for state if it wins its 10 a.m. game.

Lakewood’s girls softball team also is playing for the district title Friday against Sehome in Mount Vernon. But it is going to state win or lose.
