M-P’s Meetsma stands out at swim meet

MARYSVILLE – Ian Meetsma stood out for the Marysville—Pilchuck/Marysville Getchell high school boys swim team against Snohomish and Glacier Peak Tuesday.

In the 200-yard medley relay, M-P was second with Meetsma, Leif Anderson, Jared Edge and Jake Howat. Their time was 1 minute, 56.19 seconds, just 2/10ths of a second faster than Snohomish.

Meetsma later placed second in the 100 freestyle, with a clocking of 55.82 seconds. He also placed second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:05.95.

Finally, Meetsma was part of M-P’s 200 free relay team that finished third in 1:43.16. Also on that team were Howat, Edge and Nate Novy. MG was fifth in that race in 1:56.86. On that squad were Lauren Vital, Hunter Brown, Nicholas Carlson and Kameron Wilkes.

MG’s 400 free relay team was third in 4:04.26. On that squad were Carson St. John, Caleb Pearson, Jawan Smith and Kameron Wilkes. M-P was fifth in 4:16.95 with Howat, Edge, Novy and Wyatt Yarbrough.

Anderson placed fourth in the 1-meter diving competition, scoring 159.4 points.

Novy finished in fifth place for M-P in the 100 butterfly.

Ethan Nelson was fifth in the 500 free with a clocking of 6:40.2.

In the 200 free, Wilkes was the top local finisher, placing sixth in 2:20.38.

In the 200 IM, Carlson placed sixth for MG in 2:52.02.

Jesse Nahinu of MG was sixth in the 50 free with a time of 26.39 seconds.

And in the 100 breaststroke, Carson Mielke of MG was sixth, finishing in 1:33.66.
