ARLINGTON – A 27-year veteran of the Arlington Police Department was injured in a hit-and-run crash over the weekend.

The sergeant was taken to Cascade Valley Hospital in Arlington.

“He is at home recovering from the crash,” city communications director Kristin Banfield said in a news release. “As you can imagine from such a forceful collision, he is very sore. He appreciates all of the concern for his well-being.”

He is declining requests for media interviews.

About 10:46 p.m. April 10, the sergeant was hit by a hit-and-run driver in the 17200 block of Smokey Point Boulevard. He had the green light and was heading southbound. Suspect vehicle was traveling eastbound on 172nd. Suspect vehicle hit the passenger side of the patrol car, causing it to spin.

The city has requested that Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office complete the investigation.

Banfield refused to talk about the suspect vehicle.

“Because of the active investigation, officers have requested that I not discuss whether the other vehicle involved in the crash has been located,” she said in the release.

Marysville, Monroe, the sheriff’s office and the Washington State Patrol responded to the crash.
