Marie Esteb Trana Rich, 95, was born March 9, 1911, in Minneapolis, Minn, and died Nov. 19, 2006, in Snohomish, Wash.
As a young girl, the family moved to a farm in Ottertail County where she attended a country school. Her hard working philosophy began at an early age and continued throughout her life. In 1929 she married Clifford Trana. They moved to Everett where other members of the Trana family had settled. Her penchant for hard work led her to numerous jobs, her favorite being at Broadway Hardware and Variety in Everett, where she enjoyed her work and many customers. She set an example of hard work and caring for her family, Donna (Bob) Palm, of Marysville, Wash., and Wallace Wally (Karen) Trana, of Mukilteo, Wash.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clifford; brothers, Ralph, Harold, Frank and Roland Esteb; and sister, Beatrice Johnson.
In 1970 Marie married Harold Rich and enjoyed 10 years with him prior to his death. Her later years were spent with her good friend, Fred Glasgow, who also preceded her in death.
She loved going dancing at Normanna Hall and maintaining her home and lovely yard, until her 90th year. In addition to her daughter and son, Marie leaves granddaughters, Holly Sturgeon, of Renton, Wash., LeighAnn (John) Olinski, of Westfield, Mass., Tracy (David) McCallum, of Seattle, and Kristi (Jeff) Coats, of Edmonds, Wash.; great-grandchildren, Scott Berghegger, Lauren and Matthew Olinski, of Westfield, and Kaitlin, Jeffrey and Davis Coats, of Edmonds. She also leaves numerous nieces and nephews. Marie loved her children, granddaughters and great-grandchildren and enjoyed making lefse and cookies for their enjoyment.
