Silvana Community Fair celebrates 70th year

SILVANA – Hundreds of people turned out for the 70th anniversary of the Silvana Community Fair on Saturday for a day in the countryside filled with farm and livestock exhibits, arts and crafts, live music, games for kids and festival food.

The fair prides itself on promoting community spirit, wholesome family activities, and helping local youth practice show their animals and livestock before judges ahead of upcoming bigger events, including the Stanwood-Camano, Evergreen and Puyallup fairs.

Beef and dairy cattle, goats, chickens, pigs, sheep, alpacas, dogs and other animals were on display, and a petting zoo gave kids a chance to get more up close and personal.

Dozens of vendors sold agricultural products, farm produce, homemade crafts, antiques and other collectibles. Viking Hall drew fair-goers inside for exhibits that included paintings, drawings, quilts, sewing items and baked goods.
