Mel and Rosalie Bratley enjoy breakfast at the Blue Bird Cafe after learning they were the winners of a Thomas Kincaid print of Disneylands 50th anniversary celebration. The raffle was part of the cafes own 50th anniversary celebration, which will continue through the year. We entered a lot of tickets because we were remodeling our kitchen and ate here a lot, said Mel Bratley recently after learning they had won. Rosalie has a couple of options where to put her new art work. The winning ticket was drawn by a 12-year-old, Carl Bergam, who is blind. He is the son of Jeff Bergam. The Blue Bird was opened Jan. 1, 1958 by Florence and Merl Peper, according to Shirley Parris, current manager of the cafe. They gave away 12,000 raffle tickets since earlier this year.
