The Darrington Loggers lost 14-4 in five innings to Sultan on April 30. Coach Sue Howard felt understandably disappointed with a rocky pitching performance that saw Darringtons hurlers give out 15 walks, 10 of which later turned into runs.
Were not throwing strikes. This has been a problem all season for us. We still dont have the pitching going, said Howard.
The highlight for Darrington came in the fifth inning when they scored all of their runs. Pinch hitter Stephanie Pugh doubled to drive in three of Darringtons four runs in the game.
We just dont have the consistency on the mound right now. Stephanie did a nice job getting us some of the runs back, but we need to pitch better, continued Howard.
