SILVANA – Checkers, the Snohomish County Volunteer Search and Rescue dog reported missing Thursday, was found enjoying a swim in a nearby pool then retrieved Saturday, Sept. 20.
After seeing news reports and the Facebook posting of the missing golden retriever, a Silvana resident realized she had seen Checkers swimming in her pool Friday.
Her husband went outside and called for Checkers, who appeared in the woods. The dog waited with the couple for her handler, Samuel Peterson, to retrieve her.
Other than a sore on her paw, Checkers was unhurt, Lt. Steve Dittoe said.
