Old Time Fiddlers

The Old Time Fiddlers meets Friday evenings Oct. 24, Nov. 14 and 28 and Dec. 12 at the old Arlington High School, 135 South French Street, Arlington. No jam on Dec. 26. Soroptomist Benefit

Ciao Bella, the theme of this years annual Soroptimist Auction, means “Hello Beautiful!” in Italian. The auction is Friday, Oct. 17, 5:30 p.m., at the Hawthorn Inn, Smokey Point. Begins with social hour, complimentary wine, and the beginning of the silent auction with buffet dinner starting at 7:15. Hundreds of auction items to bid on. Turn your thumb green

Food drive

Top Food and Haggen stores food drives Oct. 13-19. The food drive is to help hungry people in the Snohomish County communities. Food banks are seeking canned protein, canned fruit and any other non-perishable food items. Donors also may purchase pre-stuffed bags of groceries that include rice, pasta and soup for $5 apiece at TOP Food and Haggen stores. Around the World With Nelly Bly

Sleeping over with science and arts

Western Washington University is hosting Sleeping Over with Science and Art (SOSA) Oct. 24-25, for students in grades 3-5 who are interested in science or art. The cost for the sleep over is $55 per person and includes; instruction, overnight supervision, materials, snacks and continental breakfast. Participants need to bring sleeping bag, pillow, toothbrush and toothpaste and a jacket. Campers sleep in their own clothes and are separated by gender during the sleep over. Who is your hero?

The American Red Cross is looking for “real heroes,” who live or work in Snohomish County, to honor at the Real Heroes Breakfast in December. Grand Gala

Friday evening, Dec. 5, will be a “Grand Gala” with wine, cheese, hors d’oeuvres and wonderful Christmas music for entertainment in a beautiful festive environment. $35. This is the event were the Festival of Tree trees will be auctioned off. Saturday, Dec. 6, bring the family and view all the beautiful decorated trees. Carriage rides, face painting, live holiday entertainment and Christmas shopping at the Kris Kringle and Candy Land Stores. Norwegian delicacies including baked goods, pickled herring and lefse.
