Darrington wins first playoff game

The Darrington Logger football team continued their stellar play this season with a 52-17 thrashing of Seattle Lutheran in the first round of the 2B District playoffs.

The Darrington Logger football team continued their stellar play this season with a 52-17 thrashing of Seattle Lutheran in the first round of the 2B District playoffs.
The Loggers never trailed and breezed to an easy victory yet again behind strong play by Conner Rounds on defense and Justin ODell and Mike Parris on offense.
The Loggers also benefitted from great special teams play, including an 80-yard run back for touchdown by Mark Jones. Jones return staked Darrington to a 7-0 lead from which they never looked back. Justin ODell added a 45-yard touchdown run in the first quarter to widen the margin.
In the second quarter Darrington plugged away on the ground and got three touchdowns. Mike Parris scored from 22 and 17 yards out and Jones ran 36 yards for his second score of the day. By halftime Darrington led 31-7 and had the game well in hand.
The third quarter was all Darrington again as Parris ran in from 33 yards for his third touchdown of the night. ODell added a 21-yard score and Jones hit Derrick Green on a 33-yard pass for a 52-7 lead.
Coach Fred Emerson called off the dogs in the fourth quarter as Seattle Lutheran scored 10 garbage points to get the final margin back to 52-17, but there was no question which team was superior.
