ARLINGTON — The Arlington Public Schools are adding a new full-time tuition-based kindergarten program in each elementary school for families who are interested in Monday through Friday kindergarten.
The two current sessions of half-time kindergarten meet on Mondays, Wednesdays and every other Friday, or on Tuesdays, Thursdays and alternating Fridays. The new Monday through Friday program will provide additional opportunities for socialization and reinforcement of academic skills.
Tuesday is the last day local voters can cast their ballots for the Aug. 16 primary election.

ARLINGTON — At least five horses died and four others were injured in a fire on a farm north of Arlington early in the morning of Aug. 9.
The fire was reported at 2:06 a.m. and trapped 10 horses in a barn in the 28400 block of Kunde Road in Bryant.
An estimated 40 firefighters with not only the North County Regional Fire Authority, but also from Arlington, Arlington Heights, Stanwood and Silvana, arrived to find the barn and horse arena in flames.
