Arlington Public Schools now offering full-time kindergarten

ARLINGTON — The Arlington Public Schools are adding a new full-time tuition-based kindergarten program in each elementary school for families who are interested in Monday through Friday kindergarten.
The two current sessions of half-time kindergarten meet on Mondays, Wednesdays and every other Friday, or on Tuesdays, Thursdays and alternating Fridays. The new Monday through Friday program will provide additional opportunities for socialization and reinforcement of academic skills.

ARLINGTON — Skilled or lucky golfers will have a chance to win at car at the second annual Arlington Open golf tournament on Friday, Aug. 26.
Dwayne Lane Chevrolet in Arlington has agreed to give a car to the first person to sink a hole-in-one in the 165-yard hole no. 3 at Gleneagle Golf Course.
The golf tournament is a fundraiser for entryway signs for the city of Arlington, and 25 percent of the proceeds will support Kids’ Kloset to provide clothing and other basic needs for youth in North Snohomish County.

Seventeen people died in Snohomish County in driving under the influence crashes last year. In an effort to save lives, extra officers from a variety of law enforcement agencies, including Marysville and Arlington, will be looking for DUI drivers between Aug. 19 and Sept. 5 during the annual Drive Hammered, Get Nailed campaign.

Farm fire north of Arlington kills at least...

ARLINGTON — At least five horses died and four others were injured in a fire on a farm north of Arlington early in the morning of Aug. 9.
The fire was reported at 2:06 a.m. and trapped 10 horses in a barn in the 28400 block of Kunde Road in Bryant.
An estimated 40 firefighters with not only the North County Regional Fire Authority, but also from Arlington, Arlington Heights, Stanwood and Silvana, arrived to find the barn and horse arena in flames.
