Why, asked my eye doctor, havent you written about some of the effects of 9/11 on the medical field, like the corneal transplant program? Because I didnt know about it, I said. Now I do, thanks to Patty Lent, a former Kitsap County Commissioner long active in the transplant program.
The Globe reported that some of Marysvilles math classes lack qualified teachers. One teacher jumped contract. Others backed out after committing to teach in Marysville, leaving parents irate and students are frustrated.
With the Eighth (Golden Arrow) Infantry Division in Germany Private Reynard W. Maltsberger of Marysville stands at attention as Maj. Gen. William G. Wild Bill Weaver, commander of the Eighth Infantry Division, pins on an Oak Leaf Cluster to the Silver Star Medal. Maltsberger, a medical aidman with the 121st Infantry Regiment, was wounded during an attack but refused to be evacuated. He remained with his company during the four days which followed, exposing himself to withering fire. He was wounded a second time while trying to reach a wounded doughboy and was sent to the rear for treatment.

So Sen. Maria Cantwell and Rep. Jay Inslee have asked President Bush to create a task force to investigate possible fraud and price gouging by oil and gas companies. Gasoline averaging $3.50 a gallon is dragging the economy into recession, they said in their letter to the president and its time to get to the bottom of it. Remember back in the 70s when the Legislature created its own Select Committee on the Energy Crisis which traveled all over the state conducting hearings in communities where lines for gasoline were getting longer and longer?
