Coach Mike Shierk tried hard not to get ahead of himself when talking about his 2007 cross country team, but his enthusiasm could barely be contained.
Emotions ran high for the Lakewood Cougars in their Oct. 23 matchup with the Coupeville Wolves. For 13 graduating seniors, the game marked the last time they would play a regular season game together at home. Most of the seniors have grown up playing soccer together, some for as long as 12 years with the same teammates.

Back in my own high school days I had very little awareness of the wrestling team. They seemed to occupy a spot in the weight room around the same time basketball season was going on, but I never figured out exactly what they were up to. In fact, until last week Id never attended a wrestling match at all so I had no idea what to expect in my first week of covering the sport.
The Arlington seventh grade boys AAU basketball team ran their early season record to an impressive 11-1. The team has won two tournament championships and placed second three times. The feat is even more special considering the team has struggled to find practice times.
LAKEWOOD The Lakewood wrestling team came out on the winning side of two boy-girl match-ups to rally from an 18-3 deficit to La Conner, winning the Dec. 4 match 47-24.
It didnt take long for the Arlington Eagles wrestling team to jump out to a commanding lead over Lynnwood during their Dec. 4 match. The Eagles won three matches by forfeit to grab an 18-0 edge before the wrestling even began. The forfeits wound up being a non-issue as Arlington won decisively 65-12.
Darrington wrestlers took down Concrete in one of the biggest wins in recent memory for the program.
ARLINGTON The Arlington Eagles boys basketball team took on the Mount Vernon Bulldogs on Saturday Dec. 8 in a non-league game. The Bulldogs came into the game a heavy favorite, being picked to win not only the Northwest Conference but also to place well in the State tournament.
