LAKEWOOD The Lakewood girls took on South Whidbey in a league tennis match on March 26.
TROY, N.Y. The American Football Coaches Association has released its 2007 Division III All-America Team and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute student-athlete Tim Acker has been named to the prestigious squad. Selected as a defensive back, he is one of only two sophomores on the 25-person team.
The Lakewood boys basketball team got their first win of the young season in thrilling fashion Dec. 14 with a league win over the Sultan Turks 78-70. It took bonus basketball to decide the game after everything was tied 64-64 after 32 minutes.
The Arlington Eagle boys basketball team played extremely well for 16 minutes against the powerhouse Snohomish Panther team in their meeting Dec. 14.
Basketball Tourney in Lake Stevens
The Arlington girls basketball team struggled to find their footing against an imposing Oak Harbor team during their clash Dec. 12. The Eagles outside shooting touch deserted them and allowed Oak Harbor to run away with an easy 58-23 victory.
ARLINGTON In a hotly contested Wesco North match Dec. 11, the Arlington Eagles wrestling team showed enough to win 42-26 over the visiting Oak Harbor Wildcats.
ARLINGTON Standout cross country and track runner Paul Simbeck of Arlington High School organized a 5k run to raise money and supplies for the Arlington Food Bank. Simbecks effort ended up garnering $390 and 50 pounds of canned food. The race took place Saturday, Dec. 8, at Arlington High School.
LAKEWOOD The bats came out in full force March 30 as the Lakewood fastpitch squad breezed to a 16-1 victory over Coupeville.
Though the boys and girls cross country teams at Lakewood are among the states best in their division, they werent the only stars at the South Whidbey Invitational Sept. 15.
LAKEWOOD With five outgoing seniors, the Lakewood Cougars prepared an emotional farewell before their game with Archbishop Murphy Feb. 8. Karli Hesselman, Jeneca Hoidal, Jennifer Lind, Emily Steinborn, and Aly Stewart would all be playing their final home game in a Cougar jersey.
ARLINGTON A hard-fought, closely-contested March 29 game between the Arlington Eagles and Everett Seagulls fastpitch teams ended in confusing fashion. Everett plated the winning run in the top half of the seventh inning to squeeze out a 2-1 victory.
In any sport there is a fine line between victory and defeat. When dealing with a talented opponent, one incorrect judgment, one misstep can open the door for an opponent to gather an edge.
