MARYSVILLE The race for Snohomish County Sheriff saw Lt. Rob Beidler defeated in his bid to replace his boss, Rick Bart, who cant run for a fourth term due to term limits. Democratic State Rep. John Lovick of Mill Creek topped the trio on the Aug. 21 ballot with 38 percent of the 78,000 votes cast; deputy chief Tom Greene followed with 34 percent, and Beidler was knocked out with 26 percent.

The Arlington Times recently sent out a survey to the candidates for city and county offices in the upcoming elections, from the Arlington City Council to the Snohomish County Executive. All of the candidates vying for the same office were asked the same questions. Upcoming issues of The Arlington Times will spotlight answers from county-level elected officials, but for now, we present the answers of the contested City Council members. Arlington Mayor Margaret Larson and City Council members Dick Butner and Sally Lien are running unopposed, as are the members of the Arlington School District Board of Directors who are up for election. The general election is scheduled for Nov. 6.
ARLINGTON Tri-agency emergency management planning was discussed by the Cascade Valley Hospital and Clinics Board of Directors Oct. 17, as representatives of the city of Arlington and the Arlington School District and Fire Department submitted a proposed salary for a full-time emergency manager position.
