ARLINGTON — Businesses and community members may have noticed a new face selling advertising space in the pages of The Arlington Times.

Terrie McClay recently joined The Times as a multi-media sales consultant. McClay, who has more than 20 years of experience in sales, will be covering territory in northern Snohomish and southern Skagit counties.

That area includes Arlington, Smokey Point, Silvana, Stanwood, Camano Island, Burlington and Mount Vernon.

A Stanwood native, McClay most recently spent time working for the Skagit Valley Herald in Mount Vernon. During her seven and a half years there, she helped sell ads in the daily publication, as well as in weekly, niche and special sections.

Her current duties include helping businesses place ads with The Arlington Times, its supplemental sections and with the newspaper’s Web site, www.arlingtontimes.com

“So far I’ve really liked the interaction with people,” McClay said. “I love being out in the community and helping businesses grow. You develop a lot of great relationships out there.”

McClay said so far she’s enjoyed meeting business owners and community members in area. Since joining The Times last month, she said she’s been busy scheduling appointments and attending Arlington-Smokey Point Chamber of Commerce meetings.

“People have been very warm and welcoming,” she said. “Everybody seems to know one another.”

DeAnna Emborski, publisher of The Marysville Globe, The Arlington Times and the Wenantchee and Bellingham business journals, said that McClay’s experience will compliment the newspapers’ current sales staff.

“Her experience in the advertising field, her ties to the community and her commitment to excellent customer service is exactly what we have been looking for to complete our sales team for Arlington,” Emborski said.
