Arlington business owner helps extinguish wildfires during the summer

Brad Goldman took a chance when his wife insisted that he purchase his first airplane — a 1963 Cessna 205 with only 1,800 hours on it. Skagit clinics announce new cardiology services for Smokey Point residents

SMOKEY POINT — Skagit Regional Clinic is expanding its cardiology services into the Smokey Point area and has hired a new cardiologist. Dr. Yelena Rosenberg, who recently completed a cardiology fellowship at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center, will provide general cardiology to patients at Skagit Regional Clinics' existing office and expand the clinics' services into Arlington starting Sept. 15. In addition to working at the Skagit's Mount Vernon office, Rosenberg will also be seeing patients at 16410 Smokey Point Blvd., Building No. 200, in Smokey Point.

Cascade Valley, Skagit Valley hospitals announce new medical facility in Smokey Point

Two area district hospitals have announced that a new 42,000-square-foot medical facility will soon be taking shape in Smokey Point. Arlington-based Cascade Valley Hospital and Clinics and Skagit Valley Hospital of Mount Vernon will be partnering on the construction of the facility, which is set for completion in late 2011, administrators said.

Dollar Tree coming to Arlington

ARLINGTON — Penny pinchers rejoice. In early September, a Dollar Tree will be opening up in Arlington. According to company officials, the discount variety store that sells all items for one dollar or less will be located at 3704 172nd Street NE, near the Smokey Point Safeway. The approximately 9,000-square-foot store will bring between 10-12 full-time jobs to the city. "Dollar Tree continues to grow and is proud to be part of the Arlington community," said Chelle Davis, Dollar Tree spokesperson. Dollar Tree operates more than 3,800 stores in 48 states, and has stores in Marysville, Lake Stevens, Everett.
