Arlington Library

What is truly important in our lives? What are the things we really treasure for ourselves, our family and our community? When we chose to live in Arlington, what were the things that we looked for that made Arlington more special than other communities? Think about the time when the serious decision was made for our families to live in or around Arlington.

Affordable housing was probably high on our list of priorities. The quality of the school system next, followed by a host of other amenities such as convenient shopping, cultural activities and, not the least, a quality library with maximum resources.
Arlington and the Library Capital Facilities Area in cooperation with the Sno-Isle Library System has provided a quality library for more than 30 years. The population in the LCFA has more than tripled. Technology that we take for granted today, wasnt even on the horizon. The need for immediate access to information accessible in our libraries has put a serious strain on present facilities.
Is a new library that will meet the needs for the next 20-25 years for Arlington and the surrounding community as important as it was when we all chose to live in or near Arlington?
I think so.
We all make choices everyday how we spend our money. Have we ever considered how we might better spend some of our limited resources? How about considering the chance to help, in a very small way, build a new library?
As Co-Chair of the Citizens Community for a new Arlington Library, I urge you to support the proposed bond levy on May 20.
