Although this may not be considered news worthy, the events that occurred on Second Street in Marysville today will stay with me for the rest of my life.
I have been blessed with wonderful neighbors. Most of them have lived on Second Street their entire lives. Some are even second -eneration families. I have been so moved and felt genuine warmth from my neighbors, that I have grown appreciation for our town, our neighborhood and more importantly my faith in the good of the neighbor.
At approximately 2:30 on Feb. 29, I was working on my computer (I work from home) and set my dog outside in her kennel for a telephone call that I was about to make. Sometimes she gets excited and starts chewing on me while I am trying to remain professional, so during those instances, and those alone she would go outside for at most 15 minutes by herself. She managed to escape today and I noticed instantly. I ran outside in a frantic panic only to see my neighbor Donna on her front steps.
Donna had seen my dog in the front yard less than a minute before and was diligently trying to chase her down and catch her. Bless Donnas huge heart, who has some health issues and was not able to keep up with my crazy little pup, who was probably scared to death being outside alone.
Not too long later, a black pickup truck pulled up and asked her if she needed help. She explained to the passenger, a woman in her 30s with long dark hair and sunglasses that the dog belonged to me. The passenger picked up my dog and got back into her truck. The driver took off.
Olive is a 4-month-old purebred Beagle. I fear that these individuals will not return her or take her to a shelter. Olive became a part of our family, not only to me, but to my 4-year-old nephew. I now have to explain to him why she is no longer here. Please, please, please, I ask you for any help in finding our puppy. I ask you, Who would steal a puppy? Especially if they knew its best friend was a 4-year-old?
Please help me find these people. They have not only destroyed my faith in the kindness of strangers, but have left me without my dog, in tears, with no remorse or consequence that I am aware. This weekend, my nephew will be holding a sign in our front yard reading, Who stole my puppy?
I will not rest until I find her. I thank you in advance for any information that you many have.
