The Arlington-Smokey Point Chamber of Commerce has as its mission to cultivate a business community that works together to enhance economic vitality in the Greater Arlington area. In May, the citizens of our community will be asked to pass Proposition 1, a $45 million bond issue to improve and modernize the emergency room facilities at Cascade Valley Hospital.
As business owners, we know that health care is an essential service to our community. Cascade Valley Hospital is a major contributor to the economic health of our community; the staff lives, works and shops here, and we rely on them when we, our families, and employees need emergency care. Having quality medical facilities helps to attract and retain businesses and helps our homes and business properties retain their value.
We believe that Proposition 1 is worthy of support and urge the voters to support the passage of the bond. Existing emergency room facilities need to be modernized and expanded to serve our expanding population. Modernizing these facilities is a key way for our community to provide good medical care, as well as attract and retain good doctors and medical staff.
Ultimately, we play a key role in our own future. Agreeing to tax ourselves to provide emergency facilities is vital to our long-term economic health. We urge voters to be informed and vote Yes for Proposition 1.
