We are more barbaric then the vigilantes

Absolutely unfair is the sentence that non-violent “3-Strikers” are serving in prison after harming no one. There is no equal justice under this law. We have those spending their entire lives in expensive prisons who do not deserve this harsh punishment given the heinous crimes those who really do deserve it commit.

We have those spending their entire lives in expensive prisons who do not deserve this harsh punishment given the heinous crimes those who really do deserve it commit.

One example, a 3-Striker who robbed a store pretending to have a weapon stole $151. His total take for all strikes was $611 and he never physically harmed anyone.

Another asked a sales person to “give me your money,” then left the store after a change of mind. Attempted robbery is a strike.

A young woman with a history of mental illness and drug addiction was sentenced to life. She had three second-degree robberies netting some $900. She has never actually used a weapon and has never harmed anyone.

With our 3-strikes law, we are more barbaric than the vigilantes who used to simply string up alleged offenders and go about their business because we have a system that if used properly should assure fairness to all.
