ARLINGTON — The Arlington High School Jazz Bands’ annual Swing Into Spring Dessert Dance will return at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 4, and Saturday, May 5, at the AHS commons, located at 18821 Crown Ridge Blvd.

Students are inviting jazz fans to shine up their dancing shoes as the commons will be transformed into the “Easy G Jazz Club,” featuring the On Hold and Jazz II jazz bands directed by John Grabowski.

Attendees will be able to enjoy popular favorites by Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Stan Kenton, Glenn Miller and many more.

This event serves as a showcase for the talented jazz musicians of Arlington High School, as well as a unique opportunity to welcome the community into the high school.

Tickets may be available at the door, but event organizers strongly recommend that you reserve your table seating in advance, at the Arlington Copy, Mail & More, located at 526 N. West Ave., at 360-435-4900.

Tickets are $12 apiece, which covers the music, dancing, dessert and beverages served by the jazz students.

Grabowski and his jazz bands demonstrate their dedication by holding class outside of regular school hours.

On Hold is an audition-only jazz band that meets every weekday morning before school at 7 a.m.

Jazz II is a volunteer group that rehearses for two evenings each week.

Swing Into Spring is a major fundraiser for the AHS Jazz Bands.

The “Easy G Jazz Club” doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the performances begin at 7 p.m.
