ARLINGTON – The new Rivers Run Event Center at Angel of the Winds Casino is opening with a whole lot of country and a whole lot of rock-n-roll.
Actually it’s the other way around as rock legends Foghat will be there Nov. 9 and country greats Phil Vassar and Lonestar there Dec. 4.
Both concerts start at 8 p.m., with tickets starting at $35.
Foghat is known for such songs as “Slow Ride,” “Fool for the City,” and “I Just Want to Make Love to You.” Formed in 1971 in London, Foghat combines an eclectic blend of rock and blues tied in with a little funk and R&B. They have eight gold records, one platinum record and one double platinum record. For more than four decades, the group has transcended through generations and attracted fans of all ages, including kids who jammed out to “Slow Ride” on “Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock,” the “Dazed and Confused” generation of people in their 30s and 40s, and baby boomers who bought Foghat’s first vinyl or 8-track tape. Vassar and Lonestar will be kicking off their Holiday & Hits tour.
Mary Jewett, director of marketing, said, “It’s exciting to have Phil and Lonestar collaborating to bring the holidays and the country music genre our guests love together for a one-of-a-kind show that will feature both Christmas standards and hits from the artists themselves.”
Vassar has produced eight Top 10 singles, including, “Just Another Day in Paradise” and “In a Real Love.” He also won the 2001 Academy of Country Music Top New Male Vocalist Award.
Lonestar has released nine No. 1 singles, including “Amazed,” “My Front Porch Looking In,” and “I’m Already There,” and was named 2001 Country Music Association Vocal Group of the Year.
