A 240-member ensemble, the University of Washington Husky Marching Band uses the traditional chair-step and toe-point style of marching and supports all UW Husky athletics all year round. The HMB is also valuable for community outreach, participating in such events as the annual Seafair Parade and at professional sporting events.

The Husky Band has a unique interactive relationship with its cheer squad, each relying on the other to make a lively and entertaining performance. The Husky Band is credited with creating “The Wave,” when at the 1981 Homecoming game against Stanford, then Yell King Rob Weller and director Bill Bissell originated what has gone on to become a global fan phenomenon.

The HMB appearance in Arlington is made possible through the efforts of a Cougar no less, Rob Pattermann, and donations from the Arlington community and donations are still welcome. The donations will help provide the band and cheer squad a hot spaghetti dinner prepared by Arlington Public Schools Food Services Department. Send a check payable to AHS Booster Club, P.O. Box 574, Arlington, WA 98223.
