Lakewood High announces top students

LAKEWOOD – Palina Buchanan and Paige Shimkus are the valedictorians with 4.0 grade point averages for Lakewood High School.

The salutatorians are Nicholas Nelson and Emmaline Seth with grades points of 3.99.

Palina has been involved with cross country, track, jazz band, jazz choir, honor society, Knowledge Bowl and SAGA. She plans to attend Carlton College in Northfield, Minn., next year and study Music and Environmental Studies.

Paige has participated in volleyball and track, and also has been a member of the honor society, Knowledge Bowl, Cougar Crew, Math Club, WE Club, ASB and Volleyball Club. Paige will be attending Western Washington University in the fall and throw the javelin on their track team while studying journalism.

Nicholas has been involved with football, earning captain honors, and track. He plans to attend the University of Washington in the fall, where he will be studying Mechanical Engineering.

Emmaline has been a member of the cheer squad, honor society and Knowledge Bowl. She has also participated in track and cross country. Emmaline is still deciding among seven choices for college.
