MARYSVILLE – Local leaders prayed for the community at the National Day of Prayer Thursday at Comeford Park with the theme “Love One Another.”

Mayor Jon Nehring prayed for the city, while his son, Snohomish County Councilman Nate Nehring, prayed for the county.

Event organizer Mary Salamon prayed for the Tulalip Tribes, as chairwoman Teri Gobin was unable to make it.

Pastor Christopher Rich of the Damascus Church prayed for the religious leaders and organizations in the community.

Principal Timothy Lugg of Grace Academy prayed for education, while Steve Powell, managing editor of the Marysville Globe, prayed for the media.

Carin Weier said a prayer for the business community, while Ken Krill did one for the armed forces.

Salamon then led the group in an actual National Day of Prayer that was read out loud at similar events all over the country.

Pastor Dan Hazen of Allen Creek Community Church and his wife Brenda provided the music and singing.
