MARYSVILLE – The Librarian of Congress, Carla Hayden, and U.S. Rep. Rick Larsen are scheduled to visit the Marysville Library at 9:30 a.m. Aug. 1.

Hayden will present materials from the Library of Congress to Sno-Isle Libraries, and view and possibly participate in a children’s storytime at 10 a.m.

She will also tour the library and meet staff.

Hayden is the 14th Librarian of Congress. Appointed by former President Barack Obama in February 2016, Hayden is the first woman, the first African American and the first professional librarian appointed to the post in more than 60 years.

Storytime is a regular event at all Sno-Isle Libraries. A librarian reads a book to children and their adults, engaging the attendees with the story

while also modeling good reading behaviors.
