Marysville honors memory of 9-11

MARYSVILLE – Members of the city police and fire departments and the public paid tribute to those involved in the Sept. 11 tragedy 18 years ago at a ceremony at the Marysville library this morning.

Al-Qaeda Islamic terrorists crashed planes into the World Trade Center Twin Towers in New York City, the Pentagon in Virginia., and passengers aboard another plane heroically helped crash a fourth plane in a field in Pennsylvania rather than allow it to hit another target in Washington, D.C. In all, almost 3,000 people died.

At the Marysville ceremony, Mayor Jon Nehring was among the speakers.

That event also paid tribute to former Marysville firefighter Lt. Jeff Thornton, who died of cancer on that same day.
