New Haller Park sculpture a frog with no name – can you help?

ARLINGTON – Haller Park welcomed a new resident amphibian Monday with the arrival of a large, granite sculpture, a whimsical frog, the latest public art piece donated to the city by the Arlington Arts Council.

Unlike the Everett AquaSox’s mascot Webbly, the new frog has no name.

That’s where you can help.

The arts council is seeking suggestions on what to name the sculpture.

Submit your idea to www.arlingtonartscouncil.net.

The frog was carved by internationally known sculptor George Pratt, who delivered it to the park from his studio in Vancouver, B.C.

Waiting arts council members greeted him.

Arts council representative Sarah Arney said earlier this year that money for the $15,000 sculpture was raised by the nonprofit’s annual Fall into Art Auction.

The frog sculpture will complement park improvements and installation of a splash pad at the park later this year.

The city plans an makeover for the park that would include the splash pad, a stage/plaza area, vendor plaza, new seating areas, group shelter, kiosk, riverside gathering spot with seating walls and interpretive panels, rain gardens and plenty of areas for children to play.

The riverfront park is located east of Highway 9 at 1100 West Ave.
