ARLINGTON — Dance music is the theme of the North Cascades Concert Band’s fall concert this year, to be presented at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 3 at the Byrnes Performing Arts Center at Arlington High School and in Bellingham and Anacortes.
CAMANO ISLAND — Lance Carleton, of Sunnyside, will be the featured artist at Islander’s Restaurant, 848 N Sunrise Blvd. on Camano Island in December, coordinated by Seagrass Gallery.
ARLINGTON — Smokey Point Community Church will present its annual Christmas musical, “A Star is Born” at 4 and 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, at 17721 Smokey Point Blvd. in Arlington.

Persis the Potter has announced she will be opening her kiln again for her annual Thanksgiving weekend tradition, offering fresh-baked pottery from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Nov. 29 and 30, and again Dec. 6 and 7. I know it seems way too early to be talking about holiday decorating but this is a really weird month in that Thanksgiving is so very late. Consequently, retailers are getting an earlier start bombarding us with Christmas commercials. And if you add in the fact that most of us are done with gardening anyway then you really can’t blame the local garden centers for shifting gears and trying to make a few more bucks before the end of the year.
