ARLINGTON — The Arlington Relay For Life’s fourth annual “Paint the Town Purple” event is set to run most of the day on Saturday, March 23, from 1-8 p.m.

The activities will officially kick off with a proclamation of “Paint the Town Purple Day” at 1:15 p.m. at Legion Park, which will also serve as the site for fundraising craft booths, Zumba, face-painting, belly dancing exhibitions and more from 1-4 p.m. From 4 p.m. forward, the restaurants along Olympic Avenue will offer “Purple Plate Specials” in honor of the day, while the second annual lighted parade will proceed south on Olympic Avenue starting at 7 p.m.

Arlington Relay For Life teams and other entrants in the lighted parade should meet up in the Union Bank parking lot at 6:30 p.m., and are encouraged to dress in whatever attire they might have on hand, from Relay outfits they wore in previous years to an assortment of pink and purple clothes, funny hats or even Halloween costumes. Lights may be wrapped around bicycles, golf carts, strollers or even the people walking down the street.

Arlington Relay For Life sweatshirts may be obtained prior to “Paint the Town Purple” for $30 each, in black or charcoal gray, by emailing Lynn DeRosier Urionaguena at urionaguena4@gmail.com, while luminaria bags may be purchased for a suggested donation of $5 each through Flowers By George before March 23.

Proceeds from all the day’s activities will go toward the Arlington Relay For Life. For more information, log onto www.relayforlife.org/arlingtonwa.
