ARLINGTON — The Arlington Arts Council is inviting the community to check out the Seattle Rock Orchestra at the Linda M. Byrnes Performing Arts Center on Saturday, Oct. 13, at 7 p.m., as they present a retrospective of their favorite songs from Stevie Wonder, David Bowie, the Beach Boys and more.

The Seattle Rock Orchestra is a volunteer community orchestra that collaborates with bands and artists to produce one-of-a-kind symphonic shows. The 50-piece ensemble explores the history of rock and pop music, but also presents new works by emerging artists, and engages in collaborations across genres and artistic disciplines.

Vocalists at the Arlington concert are set to include Chris Cunningham of Ravenna Woods, James Lanman of the Good Hurt, Andrew Vait of Eternal Fair, Tamara Power Drutis of Phinney Estate, Annie Jantzer of Bucket of Honey, and Ian Williams of the Thoughts.

The Seattle Rock Orchestra’s goal is to create performances that are fun, educational and of exceptional quality. The orchestra offers educational programs for young people, and is associated with the Shunpike art support organization. Its orchestral interpretations include songs by the Beatles, Radiohead, Queen, the Arcade Fire, Muse and more. It’s a full symphony orchestra rock band with vocals by Seattle talent including singer Allen Stone, who’s been called the leader of “New Soul” in Seattle.

Proceeds from the event will support the Arlington Arts Council’s efforts to bring more art to Arlington.
