Sonus Boreal celebrates ‘Music of the Americas’ May 18

ARLINGTON — The Northern Sound Choirs present Sonus Boreal in its spring concert, "Music of the Americas," on Sunday, May 18, at 3 p.m. at the Byrnes Performing Arts Center. Participating local youth choirs will include Sunnyside Elementary's Choir and Orff Ensemble.

ARLINGTON — The Northern Sound Choirs present Sonus Boreal in its spring concert, “Music of the Americas,” on Sunday, May 18, at 3 p.m. at the Byrnes Performing Arts Center. Participating local youth choirs will include Sunnyside Elementary’s Choir and Orff Ensemble.

Tickets are $12, or $10 for students and seniors. Admission is free for children 5 years and younger. To buy your tickets, log onto www.northernsoundchoirs.org. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door.

Under the direction of Stuart Hunt, “Music of the Americas” will feature American-influenced jazz, Latin, traditional and pop culture tunes, including a ’60s medley. Audiences can expect popular favorites such as “Muddy Water” and “Hold Me.”

Sonus Boreal is an adult women’s choir that was founded in 2010 by Hunt’s former high school students. Their goal is to inspire community partnerships with public schools that will sustain quality music education.
