Breakfast with Santa
Arlington Heights Improvement Club offers Breakfast with Santa from 8 – 11 a.m., Dec. 6, at 12221 228th St., next to the fire station in the Heights.
Pancake breakfast and photos with Santa are $5 for kids, $7 for adults and $25 for families of five and more.
Arlington welcomes Santa
The city of Arlington invites the community to participate in the annual Santa Parade on Saturday, Dec. 6, starting at noon on Olympic Avenue. Santa leads the parade in town in a wagon pulled by Sugar and Spice and is followed by fire engines, dancers, dogs in costume and many other community groups.
Line-up for the parade begins at 11 a.m. at Olympic Avenue near Fifth Street. Those interested in participating may sign up at the event.
The Christmas tree lighting will take place at Legion Park directly after the parade, where Santa will be available for visits and pictures. Guests should bring their own cameras.
The Downtown Arlington Business Association is sponsoring covered wagon rides around downtown from 1 – 5 p.m. Dec. 6 and Dec. 13 as well. There will be carolers and refreshments at the park, with additional holiday music in the Merchant’s parking lot provided by Highland Christian Treble Choir, Kent Prairie Choir on Fire directed by Laurie Swanson, Arlington Assembly of God Youth Group, Lifeway Four Square Singers, Haller Middle School music groups directed by Joe Horsak and Academy Northwest youth musicians. There will be singing groups on the street both Dec. 6 and 13.
Northern Sound Choir offers concerts
The 27 girls ages 12-19 of the Northern Sound Girls’ Advanced Choir will perform three concerts for the holidays with selections from around the world.
• Dec. 4 at the Smokey Point Community Church, 17721 Smokey Point Blvd., Arlington.
• Dec. 6 at Merrysville for the Holidays, 5:30 p.m. in Comford Park, after the lighting of the water tower.
• Dec. 17 at the Lights of Christmas at Warm Beach Camp at 6:45 and 8:45 p.m. in Joyland Concert Hall.

The Carols of
Christmas
Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, at 615 E. Highland Dr. in Arlington presents its Christmas concert at 7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 13 and again at 10:30 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 14 during the morning service.
The concert tells the story of Christmas through the choir’s favorite carols, that are rich in symbolism and doctrine and accompanied by narration. Director Laurie Breon selects music that features accompaniments by pianist Lynda Thomas and a variety of soloists, including Becca Kostick, who is an eighth-grader at Haller Middle School. Kostick’s son Phillip will join in a four-hand accompaniment in “Hark the Herald Angel Sing.”

Dance for the
holidays
The Arlington School of Dance will present its annual Christmas performance at the Byrnes Performing Arts Center 7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 13. Admission is $7 with 5 and under free. For information call 360-435-4541.
Community choir presents Messiah
For the first time in the Byrnes Performing Arts Center, Lyle Forde directs the community choir’s performance of Handel’s “Messiah” at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14. The choir director at Arlington High School, Forde presents this opportunity every other year. The community singers will be joined by AHS choral students.
“Participation is open to all,” Forde said. “This is truly a community choir.”
He said that singing the ‘Hallelujah Chorus’ is one of the most thrilling songs to sing.

Wreathes for sale
Quilceda Community Services, a non-profit agency serving adults with developmental disabilities since 1976, is selling handcrafted fresh mixed evergreen wreaths to help fund its programs.
Made of noble and Douglas firs, cedars, ornamental evergreens, various hollies, junipers and rosehips, each wreath is a unique creation. they cost $25 to $35 and must be reserved in advance at 360-653-2324.
Christmas Fest

Christmas Craft Bazaar
The Marysville-based Frawg N’ Turtle offers its barbecue sauces and mustards along with many other vendors at a Christmas bazaar Dec. 14 at Sonrise Chapel located at 11625 Airport Rd, Ste D, Everett.
Live music, lunch, photos with Santa, as well as hand-crafted items such as Aldridge Farm’s jellies and jams, decorative glassware, candles, lotions, soaps and shampoos, fleece hat and scarf sets, personalized journals, ceramics, photo cards, handcrafted jewelry, wood work, tote bags, fleece blankets, ornaments and much more.
