EVERETT — Arlington filmmaker Jonathan Holbrook is hitting the big time with “Still: The Web Series,” which was not only officially selected for the 2014 L.A. Web Series Festival from March 26-30, but has also been chosen to receive a screening at the Emerald City Comicon from March 28-30.

In the meantime, “Still” received a more local spotlight through its screening on Saturday, Jan. 25, during the second night of the Short 10 Cinema Webfest at the Historic Everett Theatre.

The Saturday night screening included not only all seven previously aired short episodes of the online horror series, but also the premiere of the eighth episode, which will serve as the midseason finale for “Still,” until Holbrook and his cast and crew can resume production on the remaining seven episodes of the online series’ first season.

“Jonathan was determined to make this happen, and he had people around him who helped him out,” said Pat Cashman, one of the evening’s emcees, who appeared in a prominent role in the seventh episode of “Still.”

After a performance by Clayton Ballard, whose original songs open each episode of “Still,” and a succession of raffle prize giveaways, the screening of all eight episodes in a row of the series was followed by a question-and-answer session with the cast and crew, including Holbrook, who expects production on the series will resume around March.

Jonathan’s daughter, Chloe Holbrook, is one of the recurring ensemble cast members of the series, so she was asked by Cashman what it was like working for her father on set.

“Is he as strict a father as he is a director?” Cashman asked.

“He’s about the same either way, which is not strict at all,” Chloe Holbrook said.

“Did the subject matter kind of creep you out?” Cashman said.

“I did wind up having nightmares about it for a while, because it is scary stuff,” Chloe Holbrook said casually, drawing laughter from the audience and her fellow actors.

“Thanks, Dad,” Cashman told Jonathan Holbrook sarcastically.

The elder Holbrook revealed that the latter half of season one of “Still” would shed more light on its mystery, but acknowledged that episode nine currently hinges on whether he’s able to recruit a noted horror movie icon as an actor. While Jonathan Holbrook declined to reveal his identity, actress Angela Andrews dropped a hint by briefly singing “The Candy Man Can.”

“All I can say is thank you, thank you, thank you to our fans and followers,” Jonathan Holbrook said. “Your comments and emails have kept us going. We can’t do it without you guys, and we promise to keep it crazy and zany, and to make you say, ‘What the hell is going on? I love it!’”
