SMOKEY POINT — A free workshop series entitled “The Healing Power of Humor,” conducted by Ellis Waller-Walker, will start Thursday, March 1, and will continue through four consecutive Thursdays in March.

Waller-Walker teaches courses at Coastline Community College and has had extensive experience in the field of gerontology. She has received multiple awards in the field, having spent her career devoted to teaching and senior care.

This workshop helps people find the positive in everyday life. Seeing the humor in situations sometimes takes work and an ability to look at the mundane in a unique and alternative way.

Through this workshop, participants can learn how to apply creative thinking techniques, reframe negative situations, appreciate the moment, develop the creative sides of their personalities and laugh at themselves.

The workshop will take place at the Stillaguamish Senior Center, located at 18308 Smokey Point Blvd. in Arlington, from 10 a.m. to noon on March 1, 8, 15 and 22. To sign up, call 360-653-4551, ext. 234.
