‘Nothing is more rewarding than helping someone achieve the dream of homeownership’

Community is at the core of Everett’s Procura Mortgage

What would make a mortgage lender stand out with both its customers, and community?

It starts with simply wanting to help, and that’s been at the heart of the Procura Mortgage philosophy since they helped their first Washington State clients buy a home more than five years ago.

For almost a year now, Pennie Carey has been excited to share the Procura Mortgage difference with Everett. With her team, the assistant vice-president and branch manager has been busy, not only helping clients purchase or re-finance their homes, but also contributing in a big way to the local community.

“After 15 years in this industry, nothing is more rewarding than helping someone achieve the dream of homeownership,” Carey says.

What makes Procura Mortgage different?

‘We want to help’: As part of Alaska USA Credit Union, Procura approaches its work a little differently. “We have that credit union philosophy – we want to help – and because of our affiliation, we have great products we can offer local homebuyers and existing homeowners,” Carey says. “In addition to purchasing a home, we can also help families refinance their homes to lower the interest rate, tap into their home equity to pay for college, or use equity to eliminate high-interest monthly debts.”

Flexibility: That approach reaches into other areas, too. “People like our flexibility – we not only have online applications, and evening and weekend appointments, but if your schedule makes it difficult for you to come to us, we can come to you,” Carey says.

Support every step of the way: “We also believe in making sure everyone is on the same page. We’ll walk you through it as much as you need,” Carey says. “It’s really important that you don’t only feel like a client, you become a friend. If you want to buy a house, we’re going to help you buy a house. If you want to refinance, we’re going to help you do that.”

It’s local: Both the processing and mortgage underwriting is handled locally, meaning just about everyone involved lives in the community, Carey notes. “Community is very important – that’s what Alaska USA Credit Union was founded on and it continues with Procura Mortgage today.”

Community focus: Believing local involvement is crucial for all community-minded businesses, Procura Mortgage is a partner with the Economic Alliance of Snohomish County, has hosted a school supplies drive, a Toys for Tots drive and sponsored a local family this Christmas. “We’re not just a mortgage company; we’re invested in the community,” Carey explains. “When you do business with a company, it’s important to know that you’re doing business with your neighbours.”

Coming up, watch for a coat drive through January, a bowling night for local children in foster care, and mark your calendars Jan. 26 when the Procura team will be at the Everett Silvertips hockey game with giveaways, coat collection and more! “I’m so proud of everyone in our office – they’re just so community-oriented.”
