4 Arlington gridders to play in all-state game; 1 from Lakewood

Arlington leads the way with four players who will be in the annual 4A/3A East-West football game that will take place at 6 p.m. July 1 at Gonzaga Prep High School in Spokane.

A number of local football and soccer players were named to all-state teams this week.

Arlington leads the way with four players who will be in the annual 4A/3A East-West football game that will take place at 6 p.m. July 1 at Gonzaga Prep High School in Spokane. The Eagles include offensive and defensive lineman Kenny Mills, quarterback and kicker Andrew Kalahar, offensive and defensive lineman Benicio Madrigal-Reis, and wide receiver and defensive back Donavan Sellgren.

Marysville-Pilchuck linebacker Dylen Boomer is also scheduled to play.

Meanwhile, Lakewood offensive and defensive lineman Jordan Jira is set to play July 25 in the annual Earl Barden East-West Football Classic at East Valley High School in Yakima at 1 p.m. That game features 2A, 1A and B players.

Also, the Washington State Soccer Coaches Association announced its 2016 All-State teams.

Several M-P seniors were named to the 3A team. Christian Correa-Avila was a second-team midfielder while three others received honorable mentions: Ariaan Cardenas, forward; Baruc Galvan, defender; and Kole Bradley-Kuk, goalkeeper. And, Marysville Getchell junior Kyle Green was a second team defender.
